For A little summer fun here at the beach we have added Sylvia Boulware to our collection of fantastic local artists. Sylvia puts the color in watercolors! Her use of the medium gives her landscapes a depth and tactile quality that you do not always get in a watercolor. Think of an amazing cross between a traditional watercolor and an knife oil painting. Her work and reproductions will be on display in person here at the gallery or you can check out her website at www.sylviaboulware.com.
"The environment has always been key to my creative thinking. Watercolor appealed to me because, compared to other mediums, watercolors seem to be the least toxic." Sylvia
Mark Smith was born and raised in california. His grandmother's twin was an artist and passed the genes down. Raised near the coast around L.A., Disney and Hollywoods' influence started early. He studied art with great instructors in Palos Verdes San Luis Obispo and Arcata before returning to the L.A. area to attend Art Center College of Design. Mark now lives and paints in San Diego. He is a member of the Watercolor Society. Mark's watercolors are bright, fun, and just the right blend of surrealism and architectural design. View some of his work at www.marksbymark.com
Eliza Tolley is another local star. Eliza, who received her
academic training from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, has been painting with oils and other media for almost 20 years. Her professional experience includes working as a gallery installer and visual merchandiser, as well as director of administration for the bi-national art project INSITE. Following a brief hiatus after embracing parenthood, her style and direction evolved to a more abstract vision of emotion, with simple shapes and luscious colors coming together to create complex compositions. We are proud to be selling some of her small works in the gallery right now at $59 dollars each. These little 12 x 12 paintings are not reproductions or limited editions, each one is its own unique creation. They look great individually or grouped together to create a larger space. Check out her work at www.elizatolley.net
